It's been 18 years since the Palacio de Fefiñanes winery produced its first vintage of 1583 Albariño de Fefiñanes, a single varietal Albariño white wine made from vines located in the Salnés valley
After a dry, hot summer, the autumn rainfall helped the grapes achieve a perfect ripening state. 2013 vintage was qualified by the Rías Baixas Regulatory Council as "Very Good".
Harvest began in the first week of October. The selected grapes were fermented in Bordeaux barrels 1 to 5 years of age.
After that, the 1583 Albariño de Fefiñanes 2014 wine was aged on its lees for 4 months with periodic stirrings.
Finally, this Spanish white wine of the Palacio de Fefiñanes winery was aged for a further 2 months in stainless steel tanks.
Drink now until 2020.
Pale straw yellow colour with some greenish tinges.
Albariño de Fefiñanes 1583 shows a good balance between oak and fruit. Fresh aromas of lychee, passion fruit and pineapple, along with balsam, spices and aromatic herbs.
Velvety-bodied and smooth, displaying notions of fruit compote, some buttery touches and remembrances of tropical fruit. First-class acidity and a persistent, unctuous, complex finish.
|Our personal opinion||
1583 Albariño de Fefiñanes 2014 with shrimp, or with a roasted chicken, is a match made in heaven.
