Made from Mencía, currently Spain's hottest indigenous red variety, 5 Rosas is produced in DO Bierzo.

Crafted by Losada Vinos de Finca, this Spanish rosé wine is made from young vines grown on steep slopes with clayey soils.

The grapes were picked by hand and brought to the cellar in 20 kg. boxes. Selected, destemmed and gently crushed, they were first cold-soaked for 12 hours.

After that, this rosé wine from El Bierzo was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and further aged on its lees for 5 months.

Drink 5 Rosas 2018 until 2021.

4,000 bottles produced.

Additional Information

The rosé wine 5 Rosas has a clean, gleaming, medium cherry-coloured robe with violet tinges.

The aromatic expression of this Mencía from El Bierzo is rather straightforward, with lively notes of red berries, some milky, creamy touches that come from the ageing on lees and, finally, some remembrances of herbs and mineral undertones.

Yummy and crisp, the palate of this rosé wine by Losada Vinos de Finca is full of strawberries, fine pastry and dim notes of liquorice. Long and refreshing, with a tight acidity and a long finish that brings back some mineral notes and flowery touches.

Our personal opinion

Easy-to-drink and attractive, 5 Rosas 2018 is a Mencía rosé wine that will pair well with starters, tapas and pasta dishes.

  1. mencia rosado review by Nadiezhda on 3/20/2019

I purchased this rose driven by my growing interest in the Mencía grape. It is very good, and thank God not overtly fruity - which I don't like. It has a bitter twist which I find very attractive.

Medium-bodied rosé. Very good with tapas

A rosé with a mineral side. Interesting.
