This Cava Gran Reserva is made from vines which are 30 years old on average.
As for its production, 40% of the base wine was fermented and aged in its lees for 8 months in French oak barrels.
After the completion of secondary fermentation, this Cava was aged for a minimum of 60 months.

The Cava from Penedès, Agustí Torelló Gran Reserva Barrica has a clean, pale straw-yellow body with golden reflections.
The combination of the Macabeo with the ageing in oak barrels is enticing. A note of baked cinnamon apples, some balsamic notes, a hint of ginger and fennel, and a pinch of dry fruit.
The entrance onto the palate of this Gran Reserve Cava from Agustí Torelló Mata is creamy and dry. Vanilla, pastry and toasted almonds, with a note of quince and some aromatic herbs. Crisp acidity, and persistent finish with some nutty notes and a bitter touch.

We would recommend enjoying Agustí Torelló Mata Gran Reserva Barrica 2012 at a temperature slightly higher than usual (8-10ºC) in order to enjoy its distinctive qualities.

The body is solid. In my mind, more a still than a sparkler. Delightful in any case.
Creamy, structured, wonderfully textured. Very vinous, so to speak. Superb with white meat and all kinds of cheese.
