Produced by Bodega Tobía, Alma de Tobía Rosado Fermentado en Barrica is a Spanish rosé wine fermented in wooden barrels.
Interestingly, the Tobía winery was the first to produce a Rosé wine fermented in oak in La Rioja.
Made from a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Merlot coming from different plots, each variety was separately vinified to preserve its specific qualities. The blending took place at the end of the winemaking process.
The grapes were cold-soaked at a low temperature for 36 hours. Then the wine was drawn off and transferred into new French oak barrels to complete fermentation.
After that, Alma de Tobía Rosado Fermentado en Barrica 2016 was aged for 5 months on its lees in those same barrels. Lees were periodically stirred to increase the release of yeast compounds.
A wine made from special selection of only 34 barrels.

The rosé wine Alma de Tobía Rosado has an intense, bright raspberry colour with ruby tinges.
Produced by Bodega Tobía, this rosé wine from La Rioja shows a rich aromatic expression. Strawberries, raspberries and cherries, along with some floral and balsamic touches. Then we perceive notes of menthol and spices, such as Jamaica pepper, along with some smokey hints and mineral remembrances.
This rosé wine by Bodega Tobía has an excellent balance between power and freshness. The palate is smooth and tense, with delicious notes of wild red berries, flowers and spices, enlivened by an excellent acidity and an elegant, slightly bitter finish. Alma Tobía Rosado lingers for a long time in your mouth and leaves you wanting for more.

Undoubtedly, Alma Tobía Rosado Fermentado en Barrica 2016 is one of Rioja's best Rosé wines. Utterly rewarding.

This is way more than the usual pale, skinny rosé. Nice body, a touch of herbs and berries, and still very fresh. I enjoy this kind of rosé very much, because it pairs well with many kinds of food.
