Produced by Bodegas Amaren, Ángeles de Amaren is an homage to the mother of Luis Cañas, the owner of the winery ("Amaren" means "mother" in basque).
Harvested by hand, the grapes were brought to the cellar in little boxes and carefully selected. After that, they were destemmed and selected again.
Vinified in stainless steel tanks, this Crianza red wine completed malolactic fermentation and was subsequently aged in new American and French oak barrels for 16 months. Finally, the wine was blended and aged in the bottle until its commercial release.
Drink this red wine from Rioja Alavesa from now until 2026.
Decant Ángeles de Amaren 2013 from La Rioja 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine Ángeles de Amaren has a very bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a crimson rim.
Deep and spicy, this blend of Tempranillo and Graciano has a rather complex, rich nose. At first there are aromas of black fruit, laurel, rosemary, aromatic herbs, further nuanced by suggestions of clove, strawberries, liquorice, bitter cocoa and vanilla.
Fresh and expressive, with a precise acidity and some velvety tannins. On the palate, this wine by Bodegas Amaren surprises us with a nice minerality, which had passed unnoticed on the nose, some prominent spicy and creamy notes, and some remembrances of blackberries, toast, balsam and undergrowth. This Crianza red wine has a long finish.

Very satisfactory Rioja. Flawless craftmanship.
An old fav of mine. Classy Rioja!!
Excellent value. Authentic Rioja character. Besides, the wine was released at the right moment. At 6 years of age, it is the perfect time to drink it.
