The young AT Roca winery has already made a name for itself as a fine producer of organic sparkling wines.
The single varietal AT Roca Esparter is quite interesting. Produced only from Macabeo, it is made from grapes coming from a single, 5-hectare estate, called Finca Esparter, located in the Serra de l'Ordal, at the very heart of Penedès.
Northeast-oriented, the vineyards of this Clàssic Penedès receive a moderate amount of sunlight, a fact that allows for a slow and steady ripening of the grapes.
Traditionally vinified following the Champenoise method, this Gran Reserva Brut Nature was aged for 7 months in oak barrels.
Once bottled, AT Roca Esparter 2014 was aged for 40 months in the cellar before its release.
This sparkling wine by Agustí Torelló has a straw yellow colour with some golden tinges. AT Roca Esparter also has some tiny, spirited bubbles.
A textbook Macabeo, full of intense, fresh and suggestive aromas. Loads of white fruit nuanced by touches of vanilla, hazelnuts, beurre noisette, quince jelly and aromatic herbs. This Brut Nature Gran Reserve is quite complex.
This organic sparkling wine by AT Roca is elegantly creamy, but also fresh and lively. Richly layered, with a mineral background, some remembrances of pears and apples, and some smokey and toasted nuances as well. Fine bubbles and well-balanced acidity. This Clàssic Penedès has a long, delicate finish.
