Auzells 2016 is a white wine from Costers del Segre crafted by Tomás Cusiné (who is also the producer of the Cara Nord wines in Conca de Barberà).
All of them are grown in the northern Catalonian region of Costers del Segre, in the province of Lleida.
Harvested at their optimal ripening point, the grapes were carefully selected and separately vinified in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 16ºC.
After that, 10% of the wine was transferred into French oak barrels, while 90% of it remained in the tanks.
Both portions were aged for 3 months, after which this white wine from Costers del Segre was blended and bottled.
Drink now to 2019.
Auzells has a very bright straw-yellow colour with a greenish rim and some golden tinges.
This white wine by Tomàs Cusiné is kaleidoscopic. Bone fruit, white fruit, spices, deep mineral undertones, notes of flowers, hints of freshly-cut grass and aromatic herbs.
This blend of white varieties from Costers del Segre is intense and velvety-bodied, with a good acidity and some interesting mineral notes. Dominant flavours of white fruit and citrus and long, refreshing, slightly bitter finish.
