Details

This single varietal Spanish red wine comes from La Rioja Alavesa, and it is made from low-yielding, old Grenache grapevines.

Produced by Bodegas BaigorriBaigorri Garnacha was manually harvested and meticulously selected in the cellar.

Vinification started with a brief maceration, followed by a long fermentation in stainless steel tanks with periodic punch-downs of the solid skin cap to foster the extraction of colour and tannin. Both processes were performed through gravity, using no pumps or mechanical devices.

Then this red wine from La Rioja was gently pressed and transferred into new French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 14 months.

Drink this Crianza red wine from La Rioja until 2025.

Decant 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Baigorri Garnacha has a medium-high garnet-coloured robe with some bluish tinges.

Nose

Complex and suggestive, this Grenache from La Rioja suggests some intense notes of flowers and wild berries, combined with fresh nuances of spices, lavender, cocoa, toast, aromatic herbs and balsam.

Palate

Pleasant and complex, this Crianza red wine by Bodegas Baigorri carries a remarkably pure, high-quality red fruit, perfectly integrated with the ageing notes. There are hints of undergrowth, some remembrances of menthol and balsam, and some suggestions of spices over a distinctive mineral background. Crisp acidity, ripe tannins and long finish.

Our personal opinion

Well-balanced and nuanced, with a great drinkability, Baigorri Garnacha 2014 will pair excellently with meat, cheese and white fish.

Irresistible Garnacha wine from La Rioja. Smoothed by the years, the fruit is still intact and exhilarating.

This is very juicy, moreish and crafted with restraint concerning oak ageing. Delightful.
