The wine Blanc d'Orto is crafted by the oenologist Joan Asens, one of Spain's top winemakers, in the Montsant DO.
The 40 to 60-year-old vineyards are planted on hills. Soils are composed of limestone, sand and gravel.
Harvested and carefully destemmed, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After a period of skin maceration and the completion of alcoholic fermentation, Blanc d'Orto 2016 was aged on its lees for 7 months.
Prior to its bottling, this white wine from Montsant was only delicately filtered.
Drink through 2022.
The white wine Blanc d'Orto has a clean, bright, amber colour with some steely tinges.
Expressive, gently conveyed sensations of ripe white fruit, white flowers, sweet spices and butter. On the background, this White Grenache by Orto Vins suggests hints of pastry, dry fruit and aromatic herbs.
Savoury and unctuous, this white wine from Montsant is smooth-bodied and delicately textured. A dash of garrigue, underpinned by a mineral layer, and nuanced by notes of white fruit, pastry and dry fruit. Substantial volume, great freshness and tense acidity. Long, mineral finish.
