The wine Blanc d'Orto is crafted by oenologist Joan Asens, one of Spain's top winemakers, in the DO Montsant.
The 40 to 60-year-old vineyards are planted on hills. Soils are composed of limestone, sand and gravel.
Harvested and carefully destemmed, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After a period of skin maceration and the completion of alcoholic fermentation, Blanc d'Orto 2017 was aged on its lees for 7 months.
Prior to its bottling, this white wine from Montsant was only delicately filtered.
Drink through 2024.
The white wine Blanc d'Orto has a clean, bright, amber colour with some steely tinges.
Expressive and deep, gently conveyed sensations of ripe white fruit, white flowers, sweet spices and butter. On the background, this White Grenache by Orto Vins suggests hints of pastry, dry fruit and aromatic herbs.
Savoury and unctuous, this White Grenache from Montsant is smooth-bodied and delicately textured. A first dash of garrigue, underpinned by a mineral layer, and nuanced by notes of apples, lime, pastry and dry fruit. Substantial volume, great freshness and tense acidity. Long, mineral finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Seductive and extremely well-crafted, Blanc D'Orto 2017 is another excellent wine by Joan Asens.

A wine with a great structure. Enjoyable, but it needs some years to unfurl.
White garnacha is a multifaceted grape. Here I've found one of its deepest expressions. In 4 years it will be a 95 point wine.
