GRENACHES DU MONDE

On February 10th, the international wine contest "Grenaches du Monde" was held in Alghero, Sardinia.

The competition selects and evaluates the best Grenache wines from all over the world.

Once again, the wines produced in Spain got excellent results.

Here is our selection of award-winning wines.

Let's begin with the wines that won a Gold Medal.

First, two outstanding examples of the Grenaches from Aragón, both produced by Bodegas San Alejandro.

Baltasar Gracián Garnacha Nativa 2013, deep and age-worthy.

Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas 2015, young and lively.

From the same region, Nietro 15 is a a truly exceptional value.

Now let's take a look to some wines that got a Silver Medal.

Still in Aragón, Coto de Hayas Garnacha Centenaria 15 is yummy and judiciously aged in oak.

Jumping to Montsant, the red wine Bancal del Bosc 15 combines Grenache with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

As for Rita 15, it is a white wine made exclusively from White Grenache and produced, like the previous one, by Finques Domènech. (Unfortunately, the 2015 vintage has just run out of stock. The 2016 one will be released in April.)

Our last wine is Finca Siós 14, a bold and unconventional red wine from Costers del Segre that received a Bronze Medal in the competition.

List of all the award-winning wines: Grenaches du Monde 2017.

Until our next post,

Enjoy wine-and let it breathe.
