Details

Bollinger R.D 2002 is a highly exclusive vintage Champagne made from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.

The grapes come mainly from Grand Cru vineyards (70%). The rest was selected among the best Premier Crus.

The base wine was fermented in old French oak barrels.

Then this Champagne of the Maison Bollinger was aged in the cellar for 96 months.

The letters R. D. mean "Récemment dégorgé" (recently disgorged).

Thus, if we wish we can keep the wine at home and age it in our cellar for a long period of time, providing that humidity and temperature conditions are appropiate.

If that is not the case, we suggest that you drink this Champagne Millésimé over the next 2-3 years.

Additional Information

Appearance

Pale, clean yellow colour with some grey tinges.

Nose

Deep notes of sugar-coated white fruit, apple compote, quince jelly and honey, nicely underpinned by aromas of toast, aniseed, nutmeg, patisserie, cocoa shell and withered flowers.

Palate

Breathtakingly elegant and seductive, but also bold and full of life. Caressing bubbles, exceptional acidity and a kaleidoscopic complexity which is difficult to reduce to words. Endless, dreamy finish.

Our personal opinion

Bollinger R.D 2002 is a world-class, age-worthy Champagne that under appropiate conditions will improve in the bottle for many years.
