Produced by the respected Jorge Ordóñez & Co winery, Botani Espumoso is a truly innovative product, as it is the first sparkling wine produced from Moscatel de Alejandría (Muscat of Alexandria) grapes.
The grapes come from the Axarquía region, a remote area in the Málaga mountains, right in the heart of sunny Andalusia, which is almost untouched by the hand of man.
Made following the Crémant method, both alcoholic fermentation and secondary fermentation of the grapes took place in tanks.
The result is a delicious wine with only 7% alcohol content. Simply delicious.
The label features a biznaga. This is a bouquet of jasmine flowers, typical of the region, that one can buy in almost every street of Málaga during the summer months.
Botani espumoso has a pale, bright yellow colour with some steely tinges.
Loads of white flowers, such as roses and jasmine, that give way to yellow fruit and citrus. Dim remembrances of yeasts on the background.
Pleasant and drinkable, with great freshness, delicate touches of flowers and fruit and a very good acidity. Very well crafted.
|Our personal opinion||
Besides its great quality, its low alcohol content makes Botani Espumoso simply irresistible. Fresh, savoury and so easy to drink that you'll need several bottles to quench your thirst.
Botani Espumoso 2012 (first vintage): Parker 90, Tanzer 92, Peñín 87.
