Details

From the Montsant DO project of Juan Gil, Can Blau is the second of the three wines crafted by the Can Blau winery,

This Spanish red wine is made from a blend of 40% Samsó (Carignan), coming from sandy soils, 40% Syrah grown in limestone soils, and 20% Grenache from slate soils.

The grapes come from vines of an average age of 35 years planted on terraces.

Carefully harvested and meticulously vinified, Can Blau 2016 was aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels prior to its bottling.

Decant this red wine from Montsant 1 hour before drinking.

Drink until 2022.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Can Blau has a clean, bright, crimson color with a garnet rim.

Nose

This blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah from Montsant is intense and complex. Clean notes of ripe black fruit, jammy fruit, liquorice and dim aromas of violets. On the background, some creamy notes, hints of vanilla and clove and notions of undergrowth and garrigue.

Palate

This Crianza red wine by Can Blau - Juan Gil Group coats the palate with its creamy, meaty texture. Ripe fruit, some creamy and smoky nuances, mineral notes and bold tannins that will mellow over time. Good acidity and long, intense finish.

Our personal opinion

A fine red wine, Can Blau 2016 by Cellers Can Blau pairs very well with game dishes.

Very good value. I drink a lot of aussie wine, and to find something this good I have to pay much more.
