Agustí Torelló Sivill and Agustí Torelló Roca, father and son, never cease to surprise us. This time with Cantallops Xarel·lo.
This Spanish white wine is a single varietal, organic Xarel.lo coming from a single estate located in the highest area of Penedès, near the mineral terroir of the Garraf Massif.
After the harvest, the grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts. Then a portion of the wine was aged on its lees in French oak barrels, and the rest was aged in clay amphorae.
After 4 months, this Xarel.lo from Penedès was bottled unfiltered and aged for a further months before its release.
Drink this organic white wine through 2023. We suggest that you decant Cantallops Xarel·lo d'AT Roca 2017 30 minutes before you drink it.

The white wine Cantallops Xarel·lo of the AT Roca winery has a pale yellow colour with some golden tinges.
First thing we notice in this Xarel.lo from Penedès is a deep smokey and mineral background, nuanced by aromas of pears and apples and a touch of aniseed. In this white wine of the AT Roca there are also some remembrances of bitter herbs, pastry and and fine lees.
Fressh and savoury, this organic white wine has a smooth texture and a very good acidity. Citrus, delicate notes of honey and butter, remembrances of fennel and a touch of bitter herbs and spices. This wine by Agustí Torelló Roca has a long, mineral finish.

Elegant and well-crafted, Cantallops Xarel·lo d'AT Roca 2017 pairs excellently with rice, fish and seafood. Also with Asian food.

Fresh, but not bone-dry. Quite mineral, the palate is complex and rich. Will improve for 3 or 4 years.
Big fan of Xarel lo here. I like the fact that this Roca Xarello is dry, crisp and mineral, but not coarse. I enjoyed very much the polished palate and the long finish,
