The rediscovery of the indigenous Mencía grape is one of the best things happened in the Spanish wine scene in recent years.
Coming from vines located at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level, the grapes were manually harvested and crushed. Maceration and fermentation was carried out in small stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine was aged in American oak barrels from Missouri for 8 months.
Drink now to 2019.
Bright, medium-high red robe with a violet rim.
Loads of fresh red fruit, particularly raspberries and cherries, along with creamy notes and hints of toffee.
Casar de Burbia 2010 is expressive and fresh, with a medium body and a tense acidity. Ripe red fruit, a layer of spices, some mineral undertones and a highly original, sort of "ferric" touch. Crunchy tannins and long finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Casar de Burbia Mencía 2010 is easy to drink and also pairs wonderfully with BBQ food.
