Chivite Finca de Villatuerta Syrah 2011 is a single varietal red wine produced in Navarre.
Meticulously harvested at dusk in order to prevent undesired pre-fermentations, the Syrah grapes were selected and gently crushed.
Then the wine was macerated in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 12ºC. Maceration was short not to extract too much tannin and thus bring a harsh character to the wine.
Afterwards, the wine completed alcoholic fermentation, was drawn off, and transferred into French oak barrels.
There Chivite Finca de Villatuerta Syrah 2011 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 12 months.
Deep purple colour with a cherry-coloured rim.
Intense notes of violets, spices, black pepper, underbush and blackberries.
Bold and well-structured, with ripe tannins, and a meaty, fruity character underpinned by deep mineral undertones and a crisp acidity. Long finish with remembrances of smoke and mineral.
