Details

From Clos Dominic, an entirely family-run winery that produces some high-profile Priorat wines, we present Clos Petó, the entry-level wine of the cellar.

Made principally from a blend of old-vines Grenache and Carignan, the composition of this Spanish red wine also includes a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

All of them are grown in the typical steep slopes composed of slate, llicorella soils. That is Priorat's trademark.

The grapes of this red wine from Porrera were harvested by hand. After finishing alcoholic fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 - 14 months in 225-litre French oak barrels.

Finally, Clos Petó 2016 was gently filtered before its bottling.

Drink now until 2026. Decant a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Clos Dominic Clos Petó has an intense, bright cherry colour with a garnet rim.

Nose

This red wine from Priorat is deep and seductive. Complex aromas of red berries, tobacco, vanilla, cocoa and vegetables, combined with some hints of balsam, toast and mint over a deep mineral background.

Palate

Bold and suggestive, this red wine by Clos Dominic has a remarkable complexity and a great freshness. Lively red and black fruit, some earthy and mineral hints and intimations of spices, flowers and undergrowth. Excellent acidity, mellow tannins and a long, smokey finish.

Our personal opinion

Still young, Clos Petó 2016 of Clos Dominic has some very good years ahead of it.

I recently drank an older vintage. It was in TOP form. This is a wine that BLOOMS after some years in the bottle.
