In contrast to the other wines of the Crápula Wines winery, Crápula Soul is a Spanish red wine made from less than a 40% Monastrell, blended with different amounts of Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vines grow at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level in the Jumilla DO. Soils are composed of limestone and have low levels of organic matter. Climate is mediterranean-continental.

The grapes were destemmed and macerated for over a period of 15 days. Fermentation took place in open wooden vats at a temperature of 29ºC.

After finishing alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, Crápula Soul 2013 was aged for 15 months in fine grain French oak barrels. Prior to its bottling,the wine was clarified with egg whites and decanted through gravity.

Drink until 2023.

Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

Crápula Soul has an intense cherry colour with a purple hue at the rim.

Nose

This red wine from Jumilla shows an entrancing mixture of Mediterranean woodland notes, aromatic herbs and intense aromas of red berries, combined with hints of strawberry yogurt and spicy remembrances.

Palate

A Monastrell blend from Jumilla, this red wine by Crápula Wines has a smooth, creamy texture, a powerful body and a remarkable freshness. Red fruit is queen here, along with notes of garrigue and the delicately spicy traces left by the ageing process. Tannins are quite tamed, though they still show their character. This red wineremains fresh until the end, and leaves a lactic, fruity aftertaste that is simply delicious. 

Our personal opinion

Crápula Soul 2013 encapsulates the essence of Jumilla, a fantastic wine region.

    A Mediterranean wine, that's for sure. Full-bodied and very intense, but also fresh and age-worthy.
