Details

This cava, Cuvée Grand Reserve Brut Nature from the Mascaró winery, was crafted from a coupage of Macabeo, Parellada, and Chardonnay grapes. All of these grapes were cultivated by the Mascaró Mas Miquel family´s vineyards in the provice of Aiguamurcia, in Alt Camp, Spain. After these grapes were harvested by hand they were brought to the winery very carefully in small boxes so that they arrived in their perfect condition. The grape must fermentation was realized at controlled temperatures that varied according to the grape varietal. The second fermentation process was realized in the Antonio Mascaró Gran Reserva Brut Nature´s bottle where this wine was aged for a minimum of 30 months before its disgorgement. After the disgorgement process this cava had 3 grams of residual sugar per liter.

Additional Information

Appearance This Spanish cava has a clean and brilliant appearance with an amber golden colored body and very fine effervescence.
Nose This cava has surprisingly fresh aromatics for such a long crianza age in its bottle. The aromatic expression is very well-defined along between vegetable and herbal aromatics. There are citric grapefruit aromatics present alongside clear expressions of fruit jams, fine lees, and lightly buttered brioche toasts. There are lightly toasted nut aromas that are entwined by divine floral aromatics that are somewhat dry on the palate. This cava, Mascaró Cuvée Antonio Grand Reserve Brut Nature has an intense aromatic complexity.
Palate This wine has a pleasant and fresh entrance onto the palate that is flavorful with citric sensations and nuanced ageing notes. There are fine lees present, pastry notes, and toasted nuts. This cava´s effervescence melts in the mouth providing for a brilliant creamy sensation along with the perfect acidity. There is a long and creamy finish that has a slightly bitter touch. This is a serious and elegant cava.
Our personal opinion This is a very elegant Gran Reserve Brut Nature cava, Cuvée Antonio Mascaró of Macabeo, Parellada, and Chardonnay. We love to enjoy this sparkling wine throughout our entire meal from the aperitif to digestif and this cava is perfect for grand celebrations.
