Details

The young white wine Davila from the DO Rías Baixas is made from a blend of three indigenous grapes: Albariño, Loureiro and Treixadura.

Produced by Adegas Valmiñor, this Spanish white wine is made from 40-year-old grapevines planted in sandy soils covered with pebble stones.

The grapes were meticulously harvested and selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Separately vinified, each variety was then cold-soaked for 6 to 8 hours, drawn off, and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After that, the Albariño and the Loureiro wines were aged for 2 months on lees in the tanks.

Finally, Davila 2018 was blended and further aged for 60 days in the cellar prior to its commercial release.

Additional Information

Appearance

The white wine Davila has a clean lemon colour with some steely tinges.

Nose

The blend of Albariño, Loureiro & Treixadura results in a remarkable complexity. Lively notes of white flowers, freshly cut grass, pineapple and passion fruit, with some citrus and mineral nuances.

Palate

Velvety-bodied and fresh, this white wine from Rías Baixas carries some tropical fruit and aromatic herbs, nuanced by a salty tip. Delicate and focused, with a good acidity, and a medium-long finish with remembrances of white fruit and flowers.

Our personal opinion

Fresh and fruity, Davila 2018 from Adegas Valmiñor pairs very well with seafood recipes.

    Value

Galician white wines are among my favourites. At this price, this is simply unbeatable. Puts to shame 75% French whites.
