Details

This is one of the scarce Spanish white wines produced solely from Viognier.

Made from vines grown in the sunny, rugged land of Aragón, in the near future Edra Blancoluz will bear the label Vino de la Tierra Ribera del Gállego.

Produced by Bodegas Edra, the grapes were meticulously harvested and cold-soaked before alcoholic fermentation.

Once both processes were completed, 6% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and was aged on its lees with periodic pump-overs.

The rest of this white wine from Aragón was aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks.

Finally, the two wines were blended, resulting in Edra Blancoluz 2018.

Additional Information

Appearance

The white wine from Aragón Edra Blancoluz is clean and bright with a pale wax yellow colored body that casts golden reflections.

Nose

Quite elegant, this Viognier white wine exhibits some sotes of white fruit, tropical fruit and citrus, alongside white flowers, aromatic herbs, dim spicy notions and aromas of toast and dry fruit.

Palate

Bold and complex, this white wine by Bodega Edra has a smooth body and a yummy character. Remembrances of honey, pinepple, spices, citrus aromatic herbs, jasmine and white roses. Fresh acidity and medium-long finish.

Our personal opinion

A nicely crafted Viognier, Edra Blancoluz 2018 is a very satisfying wine.

This most improbable Viognier from a most unlikely yields a most suprising result. Will buy it again!!
