This is the new vintage of Elías Mora Descarte, a fresh Spanish red wine wine that was produced out of sheer chance by the Bodega Elías Mora six years ago.
This wine is made from Tinta de Toro grapes coming from north-oriented, over 50-year-old vines. In principle, those grapes were destined to the Crianza wine.
However, once the vinification process was finished the oenologists of the Elías Mora winery realised that the wine had a distinctive personality. Thus, they decided to age the wine in French oak barrels for a period of 12 months in order to preserve its freshness and purity.
Produced in the increasingly interesting region of Toro, Elías Mora Descarte 2014 will probably have a fruitful evolution in the bottle.
Properly stored, this red wine from Toro will drink nicely for a period of 4-6 years.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking. 10,000 bottles produced.
The wine Elías Mora Descarte has an intense, very bright, clean high purple-coloured robe with a garnet rim and some violet glints.
Freshness is the word here. This Tinta de Toro smells of wild strawberries, blueberries, aromatic herbs, laurel, graphite and petrol. On the background, this Crianza red wine suggests notes of cedar, toast and a dash of tobacco.
Fresh, fruity and elegant. Descarte by Elías Mora has a remarkable acidity, great tension and focus and ripe tannins. Long finish with gentle remembrances of underbush and black fruit with some mineral undertones.
|Our personal opinion||
A wine which contrasts starkly with most Toro wines, Elías Mora Descarte 2014 is defined by its freshness and drinkability.

Very interesting. Tinta de Toro has a sort of brutal, in-your-face honesty which some may find off-putting, but that I, for one, happen to enjoy. A wine with no filters in the best possible sense.
Dark and deep, with intense tannins and a fragrance of earth, burnt sugar, flowers and black fruit. Will live quite for quite a long time.
