Emilio Valerio Usuaran 2011 is made from a blend of Grenache, coming from a single plot over 60 years of age, Tempranillo and Graciano, all of them farmed following biodynamic principles and environmentally-friendly procedures.
Separately harvested and vinified, the Grenache grapes were vinified with their whole bunches, while the Tempranillo and the Graciano grapes were destemmed and macerated for 30 days.
Fermented in wooden tanks of different sizes, malolactic fermentation and a 14-month ageing period took place in 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels.
The the wine was blended and aged for a further months in 48 hl. wooden vats.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
Intense, bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
Some toasted notes, remembrances of dry earth and underbush, aromas of ripe black fruit, a panoply of spices and some mineral and balsamic undertones.
Fresh and fruity, with savoury notes of black and red fruit, great freshness, some remembrances of balsam, resin and menthol, a dash of liquorice and some notes that evoke the terroir. Chewy, delicious tannins and long, exhilarating finish.
