7 Fuentes Vino de Villa 2017
Availability: In stock
This is the new vintage of 7 Fuentes Vino de Villa, an absolutely stunning value produced in the Canary Islands, a region that seems to be entering a Golden Age.
Produced by Suertes del Marqués, this radically indigenous Spanish red wine is made from 90% Listán negro and, for the first time, 10% Castellana Negra, one of the many native varieties of the region, fortunately recovered for the production of fine wines.
Grown at altitudes between 200 and 800 metres above sea level, the vineyards belong to the DO Valle de la Orotava, an area located in the island of Tenerife.
Carefully harvested, a portion of the grapes completed alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. The rest was fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then transferred into French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation. Both were subsequently aged for 9 months, and for a minimum of 12 months in the bottle.
Aerate this red wine from Tenerife 30 minutes before drinking.

The red wine 7 Fuentes Vino de Villa has a medium cherry-coloured robe with a reddish rim.
Electric and extremely lively, this wine from Valle de la Orotava suggests aromas of red fruit and liquorice, with some vegetal and spicy nuances, and notes of aromatic herbs. On the background, there is a distinctive, deep, dark mineral remembrance coming from the volcanic terroir.
Refreshing, crisp and intense, with intense mineral notions, notes of wild berries, and remembrances of spices, wild plants and flowers. This red wine by Suertes del Marqués is still quite young, with plenty of room for growth. Yummy tannins, tense acidity and long finish.
|Our personal opinion||
A truly volcanic wine, reminiscent of some Sicily's Mount Etna and Aglianico del Vulture wines, 7 Fuentes Vino de Villa 2017 proves that the fuss about the wines of the Canary Islands is definitely justified.
