Red Wine Aalto 2020 Magnum
Reserva red wine from Ribera del Duero. Varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) aged for 18 months in oak and for 6 months minimum in the bottle.
Availability: Out of stock
This is the new vintage of Aalto, one of the best wines from Ribera del Duero. The fact that the wine comes in a Magnum-sized bottle makes it even more appealing.
Produced by the famed Mariano García, head winemaker of Bodegas y Viñedos Aalto, this Spanish red wine is a varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) sorted from vines 40 to almost 100 years of. The vineyards are scattered across the provinces of Valladolid and Burgos.
Each plot was separately harvested and vinified. Picked by hand, the grapes were selected on site and in the cellar. Carefully destemmed, alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place inside truncated cone-shaped stainless steel vats.
After that, the best wine musts were transferred into 50% new and 50% used French and American oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation was completed. Then Aalto 2020 Magnum was aged for about 18 months. Finally, this Ribera del Duero red wine was bottled and aged for a minimum of 6 months before its commercial release.
We suggest that you decant this Reserva red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
Bear in mind that this magnum red wine will improve considerably in the bottle over the next years.
Appearance | The red wine Aalto Magnum is medium purple with a bright ruby rim. |

Nose | Both well defined and really subtle, this varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) conveys pristine notes of blackcurrants and cranberries, with lively herbal notes, remembrances of violets and a parade of spices and creamy aromas, such as cocoa, moka, toffee, cardamom and pepper. There is also a subdued earthy note. |
Palate | Smooth-bodied, this wine from Aalto Bodegas y Viñedos is crafted with the almost surgical precision which defines the wines of Mr. Mariano García. Fruit is just perfectly ripe, neither green nor jammy, and the wood, already at this early stage, is nicely integrated. Detailed and very fresh, with lots of inner energy and thrust. Very long finish, with remembrances of spices and toast over a mineral background. |
Our personal opinion | The amazing Aalto 2020 Magnum proves that the Ribera del Duero region has the potential for producing world-class wines. |
