This is the new vintage of Aalto, a highly prestigious Spanish red wine produced in Ribera del Duero.
Crafted by winemaker Mariano García, this varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) is made from old-vines 40 to over 100 years old.
Harvest was carried out manually. After a meticulous selection that took place both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the grapes were separately vinified according to their plot of origin.
The alcoholic fermentation and maceration of this red wine from Ribera del Duero were carried out inside truncated cone-shaped stainless steel vats. After that, the best wine musts were transferred into 50% new and 50% used French and American oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation was completed.
Finally, Aalto 2020, produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Aalto, was aged for 18 months in the barrels. Before its commercial release, it was aged for a minimum of 2 months in the bottle.
We suggest that you decant this reserva red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
The wine Aalto is medium purple with a ruby rim.
Classy and sophisticated, this varietal Tinto Fino suggests notes of black and red fruit, nicely intertwined with fragrances of flowers, spices, vanilla and toast. As the wine is exposed to air, aromas of cocoa, moka, pepper and Havanna cigars become noticeable.
Bold and complex, this wine by Mariano García, chief winemaker of Bodegas y Viñedos Aalto, has an exceptional freshness, a first-class acidity and a detailed texture. Delicately toasted and spicy, with exquisite fruit and a complexity which will need some years to fully unfurl.Great potential for improvement.
