This is the new vintage of Abadal Franc, an interesting Spanish red wine from the northern Catalan region of Pla de Bages.
Produced by the Abadal winery, the grapes were separately harvested and then fermented in stainless steel tanks submerging the solid skin cap.
Then, Abadal Franc 2019 was aged for a brief period of 4 months in American and French oak barrels.
Aerate 15 minutes before drinking.
The wine Abadal Franc has a very bright, medium cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
This interesting blend of Cabernet Franc, Ull de Llebre and Sumoll is quite pure and full of life. Aromas of blackcurrants, raspberries and cherries, alongside aromas of toffee, spices, dry earth and intense forest-floor remembrances.
Fresh and expressive, this wine from Bodegas Abadal has a distinctive acidity and remarkable focus and tension. Aromatic herbs, juicy red fruit, blue flowers and some earthy remembrances. Long, spicy finish.

From Pla de Bages, in central Catalonia, Abadal Franc 2019 is easy to drink and really fresh. As usual, the presence of the Sumoll variety makes a difference.
