White Wine Abadal Nuat 2017

One of the best expressions of the Picapoll grape, Abadal Nuat is made from a variety indigenous to the Catalan region of Pla de Bages.
The Picapoll grapes come from low-yielding, over 60-year-old vines scattered over several plots.
Harvested by hand at dusk, once in the cellar the grapes of this Spanish red wine were meticulously selected, gently pressed and cold-soaked for a period of 24 hours.
Then they were fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine was aged on its lees in French oak barrels for over a period of 10 months.
Finally, this wine of the Abadal winery, headed by Valentí Roqueta, a pioneer in the recovery of native grapes in the Pla de Bages region, was bottled and aged for some months before its commercial release.
Ambitious but not pretentious, we suggest that you decant Abadal Nuat 2017 for 30 minutes before you drink it.
The wine Abadal Nuat has a clean, brigh, straw yellow colour with some golden and steely tinges.
Complex, delicate notes of pomelo, pineapple, mango, passion fruit and lychee. After a while, this Picapoll from Pla de Bages slowly evolves into aromas of orange blossom, jasmine, almond flower and fennel. At the same time, this white wine aged on lees suggests remembrances of yeasts, pastry and toast over a mineral background.
Bold and palate-coating, this Crianza white wine is also suprisingly fresh. Juicy notes of ripe white fruit and white flowers, punctuated by notes of citrus, flowers, honey and royal jelly. This white wine of Bodegas Abadal has a very long, creamy finish with some bitter undertones.

Seductive, deep, substantial... and little-known. Abadal Nuat 2017 is a wine worth trying.
