Product Description
The mid-range Spanish red wine of bodega Abadía de Poblet, Abadía de Poblet Negre is made principally from Trepat, a red grape indigenous to the southern Catalan region of Conca de Barberà. The main variety is complemented with an equal blend of Grenache, Garrut (local for Monastrell) and Ull de Llebre (aka Tempranillo).

The Trepat grapes were sourced from old, low-yielding vines grown in poor soils at 600 metres of altitude; the Garrut comes from 20-year-old vineyards with slate and sandy soils located near the Monastery of Poblet; finally, the Grenache and Ull de Llebre grapes come from vineyards composed of clay and slate soils and located on the Prades mountain range, at 700 metres of altitude.

Traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature, after finishing fermentation Abadía de Poblet Negre 2016 was aged for 12 months in oak vats and concrete diposits.

Decant this red wine from Conca de Barberà 30 minutes before drinking.

Pair with cold cuts and roast dishes.
