Product Description

Produced by Celler Cesca Vicent, this Spanish red wine is made from a blend of Grenache and three French varieties, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, which were planted in the 1980s.

Like all the wines of the winery, Abat Domènech is a single estate wine produced from organically certified grapevines grown in steep slate and rocky slopes in the right bank of the Montsant, near the village of Gratallops, in the very heart of DOQ Priorat.

The grapes were picked up by hand and separately vinified. First, they were cold-macerated and femented in stainless steel tanks, with two daily rackings. Then this Crianza red wine was transferred into 300-litre French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. After that, it was blended and bottled unfiltered.

Finally, Abat Domènech 2013 was aged for several years in the bottle before its commercial release.

Decant this Priorat red wine 2 hours before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Abat Domènech has an intense cherry colour with a garnet rim.

Complex, elegant and intense. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot and Syrah has a profound earthy and mineral character, with some toasted nuances which slowly evolve into black fruit, sweet spices and aromatic herbs.

Meaty and bold, with, again, a resounding mineral note. This Crianza red wine of Cesca Vicent has been nicely rounded by the years, as a result of which it shows remarkable balance and definition. Excellent acidity, with lively tannins and a long finish with some earthy and toasted remembrances.

Our personal opinion

The wine Abat Domènech 2013 is a purebred Priorat that will make a fabulous pairing with game dishes.

great priorat
It is always a treat to find a wine released after more than 5 years in the bottle. This really delivers.
