Red Wine Abat Domènech 2014
Availability: In stock
Like all the wines of the winery, Abat Domènech is a single vineyard wine produced from organically certified vines grown in steep slate and rocky slopes on the right bank of the Montsant river, near the village of Gratallops, in the very heart of DOQ Priorat.
The grapes were picked up by hand and separately vinified. First, they were cold-macerated and femented in stainless steel tanks, with two daily rackings. Then this Crianza red wine was transferred into 300-litre French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. After that, it was blended and bottled unfiltered.
Finally, Abat Domènech 2014 was aged for several years in the bottle before its commercial release.
Decant this Priorat red wine 2 hours before drinking.
Very limited production.
The red wine Abat Domènech is medium purple with a garnet rim.
Complex, elegant and intense. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Carignan and Syrah is earthy and deeply mineral, with some toasted nuances which slowly evolve into black fruit, sweet spices and aromatic herbs.
Meaty and bold, with, again, a resounding mineral note. This wine from Cesca Vicent has been nicely rounded by the years, showing a remarkable balance while keeping focus. Excellent acidity, lively tannins and long finish with some earthy and toasted remembrances.
