This organic white wine from L'Olivera Cooperativa is a single varietal Macabeo aged for a very short time in oak.
In doing that, the aim of the winemakers was not to distort the delicious varietal character of the grape.
This Spanish white wine was produced only from the "free-run" juice and vinified in American and French oak barrels, 15% new.
Produced in the Catalan region of Costers del Segre, Agaliu was then aged on its lees for 4 months with periodic strirrings.
A single varietal Macabeo packaged in its characteristic blue bottle, Agaliu 2018 is produced near the beautiful Vallbona de les Monges monastery, in the very heart of the so-called Cistercian Route in south Catalonia. An oasis of peace and beauty that really deserves a trip.
The white wine Agaliu has a clean, straw yellow colour with some greenish glints.
This Macabeo from L'Olivera Cooperativa suggests aromas of citrus, white flowers, dry fruit, some smokey hints and some mineral remembrances.
Dry and fresh, this white wine from Costers del Segre conveys clean notions of jammy white fruit, citrus, toast and pastry. Some mineral suggestions, combined with a touch of bitter herbs, dry fruit and aniseed. Excellent acidity and long, well-balanced finish.
