Red Wine Alto Moncayo 2016
Availability: In stock
Produced in Campo de Borja, Alto Moncayo was crafted solely from old-vines Grenache with ages ranging from 40 to 70 years. They are planted in very poor soils on the hillsides of the Moncayo mountains.
Manually harvested, the grapes were carefully vinified. After that, this Spanish red wine was aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels.
It is interesting to note that the 2007 and 2009 vintages of this red wine from Campo de Borja of the Bodegas Alto Moncayo were given a 100-point score by Robert Parker, who also wrote an enthusiastic review about the wines.
Pair Alto Moncayo 2016 with hearty dishes, such as game and casseroles.
The wine Alto Moncayo has a deep, bright cherry-coloured robe with a crimson hue at the rim.
Complex and ever-evolving, this old-vines Grenache conveys some intense notes of ripe fruit combiend with deep mineral undertones, some hints of toast and spices and some touches of leather, dry earth, underbush and blue flowers.
Meaty, bold and intense, this Crianza red wine has a density that is perfectly counterbalanced by a lively acidity and a rock-solid structure. Opulent notions of red fruit and spices, along with a distinctive minerality. This wine from Alto Moncayo has some mighty tannins that will mellow over time, and extremely long, complex finish.
|Our personal opinion||
A mighty single varietal Grenache from the rugged mountains of Aragón, Alto Moncayo 2016 is a bold and intense wine.
