Classified as "Vino de Pueblo" (Village wine) since 2018, this red wine from El Bierzo is made from vines planted on clayey hills with different sun orientations in Valtuille de Arriba. Climate is continental.
After a careful harvest, each of the plots was separately vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After that, this Spanish red wine from Bodegas Losada Vinos de Finca was aged for 15 months in concrete eggs, French oak vats and French oak barrels. The wine was gently clarified, but not filtered, before bottling

The red wine Altos de Losada has an intense, clean, high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.
This varietal Mencía red wine conveys the authentic character of the El Bierzo region. Pure aromas of red berries, some wooden nuances, notes of toast, coffee and spices. A dash of blue flowers, some notions of balsam and fresh mineral undertones.
Fresh and ruggedly elegant, this red wine from Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca is juicy and fresh, with a smooth body, some well-balanced remembrances of spices and balsam, a peculiarly metallic and bloody touch, and a very fresh acidity. Linear and focused, with crunchy tannins and a long, toasted finish with some cocoa remembrances.

A nicely crafted Mencía, Altos de Losada 2018 possesses an Atlantic character that we find delightful.
