The oenologist of Masia Can Mayol, Josep Mitjans, believes passionately in the benefits of organic farming.
One of the first winemakers in Penedès to implement biodynamic procedures in Catalonia, the young white wine Amaltea de Loxarel Blanco shows the excellent results of that commitment.
Belonging to the DO Catalunya, this Spanish white wine is made from a blend of White Grenache, sorted from vines located in Pla de Manlleu, and Xarel·lo, coming from vines located in Vilobí del Penedès, in the vicinity of the winery.
Traditionally vinified, Amaltea de Loxarel Blanco 2019 was fermented in stainless steel tanks.
In order to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit, it was not aged in oak after the completion of alcoholic fermentation.
The organic white wine Amaltea de Loxarel Blanco has a pale, wax yellow colour with some steely glints.
This blend of White Grenache & Xarel·lo suggests fresh aromas of pears, lychee and passion fruit, combined with aromas of citrus and aromatic herbs.
Smooth and mellow, this Loxarel white wine of Masia Can Mayol is also crisp and refreshing. Citrus and tropical fruit, nuanced by remembrances of flowers and bitter herbs. Medium-long, silky finish.
