The entry-level of Ànima Negra Viticultors, ÀN/2 nicely showcases Mallorca's rich heritage of indigenous varieties.
The grapes were harvested by hand and brought to the cellar in 10-kilogram boxes.
Then this red wine from Mallorca was vinified in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation was completed in the latter ones.
Finally, ÀN/2 2018 was aged for 13 months in French and American oak barrels.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine ÀN/2 has a clean, bright, dark, medium cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.
This red wine from Mallorca is surprisingly refined. Prominent notes of ripe red fruit, a dash of kirsch, hints of aromatic herbs and balsam, some spicy notes of white pepper and clove and, finally, some mineral, wet-earth remembrances. The blend of Callet, Fogoneu, Manto Negro and Syrah works really well.
A purebred Mediterranean wine, this red wine of Ànima Negra Viticultors is, however, gentler than one might think. Medium-bodied, fresh and fruity, with notes of red berries and spices, some mineral undertones and lively tannins. Vibrant acidity and medium finish.

The red wine ÀN/2 2018 is both completely unpretentious and completely successful in conveying the character of beautiful Mallorca.
