Advised by the prestigious French oenologists Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie, Bodega Mas Alta presents the new vintage of the red wine Artigas.
Interestingly, this Spanish red wine is crafted from a complex blend of grapes grown in different kinds of soils, and aged in different kinds of barrels. All with the aim of reflecting the uniqueness of Priorat's terroir.
Manually harvested and selected, the grapes were cold-soaked and fermented at a temperature below 26ºC. After 15 days, Artigas 2016 was transferred into French oak barrels, where it was aged for 16 months. 35% of the barrels were new, while the rest were 2nd and 3rd year. Before its bottling, the wine was gently filtered.
We suggest that you decant this red wine from Priorat 1 hour before you drink it.
The Spanish red wine Artigas has an intense, cherry-coloured high robe with a garnet rim.
Marvelously fresh, this Crianza red wine carries some lively notes of damson and bramble, a panoply of exotic spices, some hints of liquorice and menthol, a speck of toast, and a subtle mineral background.
Powerful and bold, this wine from Bodega Mas Alta has big bones and a substantial body. The wine, though, is neither heavy nor flabby, thanks to a tense acidity and lively tannins that promise a long life. Besides the ever-present fruit, the wine displays enticing notes of garrigue, underbush, resin and menthol, along with a wonderful minerality and a dash of liquorice. Very long and persistent.

Intense? Yes, but also, wonderfully fresh and deep. Artigas 2016 is a perfect companion for hearty dishes.
