Red Wine Arzuaga Reserva 2016
Availability: In stock
This exquisite Spanish red wine is produced by Bodega Arzuaga Navarro, a winery founded in the mid 90s at the heart of the DO Ribera del Duero.
A high-end wine, Arzuaga Reserva is produced from grapevines coming from a single estate, Finca La Planta, at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level. Soils are composed of clay and limestone.
The main ingredient of this red wine from Ribera del Duero is Tinto Fino, nuanced by touches of Merlot and Albillo, a white variety indigenous to the region.
Harvested by hand and carefully selected on site and in the cellar, the grapes were partially destemmed, cold-macerated and slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Then this Reserva red wine was transferred into new French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 26 months.
Decant Arzuaga Reserva 2015 1 hour before drinking.
18,500 bottles produced.
Appearance | The red wine Arzuaga Reserva has an intense, clean, bright cherry colour with a crimson rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Intense, deep and complex, though a bit shy at the beginning. This Reserva from Ribera del Duero needs some time to open up, after which it conveys a deep sense of terroir, nicely balanced by the ageing notes. The aromas of spices, flowers, toast and Havanna parade in an understated manner, underlying a solid core of black fruit and earth, which points to a first-rate terroir. |
Palate | Elegant and fresh, this wine by Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro is serious and dignified, with a smooth body and a crisp, stimulating acidity. Characterstic and very well-defined, with a character much of its own. Long finish with some spicy and balsamic remembrances over a deeply mineral background. |
Our personal opinion | One of Ribera del Duero's modern classics, Arzuaga Reserva 2015 is a wine born to match with substantial meat dishes, particularly game. |
