A wine from bodega Serra i Barceló, the personal project of winemaker Josep Serra in the DO Terra Alta, Aucalà Negre is a blend of mainly Grenache, complemented with some Carignan.
Produced following a minimal intervention approach, this Spanish red wine comes from vines over 50 years old.
Meticulously selected, the grapes were macerated and fermented in 8,000-litre stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with pump-downs and punch-overs. After 14 to 16 days, a portion of this red wine from Terra Alta was aged for 5 months in 3rd and 4th year French oak barrels, while the rest remained in the diposits.
Finally, Aucalá Negre 2018 was fined using non-animal fining products. This is thus a vegan red wine.
