Details
Based in DO Penedès, the Avgvstvs Forvm winery produces the wine Augustus Cabernet Franc from one of the rare Cabernet Franc vineyards currently existing in Catalonia. Located only 3 km from the sea, the organically farmed vines grow under a mild Mediterranean climate.
After the harvest, the grapes were macerated for 11 days with the skins and then fermented under a strict temperature control. Then this Spanish red wine was aged for 16 months in 300-litre 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels.
Finally, the red wine Augustus Cabernet Franc 2021 was gently filtered and clarified before bottling. Prior to its commercial release, this organic red wine was further aged for 12 months in the bottle.
It is advisable to aerate this red wine from Penedès 30 minutes before drinking.

Cabernet augustus
Yummy tobacco leaves and dark chocolate, with a note of Provence herbs. Drinks nicely.

Cab Franc geek here. I tried this after dozens of good or very good Loire Cab Francs. Nothing to regret. Nice varietal character with a medium body. Very satisfying.
