Red Wine Augustus Reserva Trajanus 2016
Reserve red wine from Penedès, blend of 4 varieties aged for 18 months in barrels and for 12 months in the cellar.

The name of the winery aptly reminds us that its vineyards located near the former Via Augusta, the Roman road that connected Rome with Tarraco, the imperial capital located in southern Catalonia.
Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Ull de Llebre, the grapes were separetely harvested and vinified. Then they were cold-soaked for 3 days, macerated for 2 more days and fermented in tanks.
Malolactic fermentation took place in 300-litre French oak barrels. Then each of the wines was aged for 17-18 months.
Finally, Augustus Reserva Trajanus 2016 was blended, gently filtered and bottled. Before its release, this Spanish red wine was aged for a further 12 months in the cellar.

The red wine Augustus Reserva Trajanus has a clean cherry colour with some reddish tinges.
A complexity that needs some time to show its many nuances. Reserva Trajanus by Celler Avgvstvs Forvm suggests some smokey and toasted notions, a dash of black fruit and a bouquet of flowers, giving way to aromas of spices, toffee and vanilla. On the background, some earthy and mineral remembrances and aromas of aromatic herbs and Havanna cigars.
Complex, full-bodied and intense, the texture of this reserve red wine from Penedès is smooth, and acidity is excellent. Tannins are ripe, and finish is very long, with remembrances of spices, fruit and some smokey and mineral notes.
