The red wine Ausás Interpretación aims to capture Xavier Ausás's personal view of the Ribera del Duero region.
Few winemakers know the region better than Mr. Ausàs, who worked for several years as chief oenologist of bodega Vega Sicilia before embarking on his current project, Ausás Bodegas y Viñedos.
This varietal Spanish red wine is produced from a patchwork of Tinto Fino (or Tempranillo) vineyards, with different types of soils and sun orientations.
Each parcel was separately vinified. The grapes were first cold macerated in stainless steel tanks before going through alcoholic fermentation.
After that, the red wine Ausás Interpretación 2019 was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 35% new.
It is important to decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero at least 40 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Ausás Interpretación is medium purple with a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | The nose is refined and full of nuance, with primary aromas of blueberries and blackcurrants, typical of a varietal Tinto Fino, gently intertwined with notes of herbs, pine needles and spices, underscored by a gently mineral suggestion. |
Palate | Elegant and textured, his red wine from Ausás Bodegas y Viñedos has a strong chalky mineral feeling reminiscent of a great Bordeaux Saint-Émilion. Fruit is lush and rich, with a phenomenal acidity, powdery tannins and a complexity that is just beginning to unfurl. Very long finish with a mineral and balsamic remembrance. |
Our personal opinion | The superb Ausás Interpretación 2019 showcases the most refined side of Ribera del Duero. |
