Product Description

The Bodegas San Alejandro winery crafts Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas from 60 to 80 year old vines.

Those old Grenache vines are located in the harsh region of Calatayud, in the northern Spanish province of Aragón, and are planted at an altitude of 1,100 metres above sea level.

The grapes of this Spanish red wine were harvested by hand, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Then they were aged for 12 months in French oak vats and oak barrels.

Finally, Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas 2018 was naturally filtered and stabilized.

Prior to its release, this red wine from Calatayud was aged for a further 6 months in the cellar.

Decant this Grenache from Aragón 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas has a clean, bright cherry colour with a violet rim.

This red wine from Calatayud is quite intense. Expressive aromas of ripe red fruit, with hints of black fruit preserve, underbush, toast and spices.

Savoury and intense, this wine from Bodegas San Alejandro shows yummy notions of ripe fruit, interesting mineral undertones, a dash of undergrowth, and some dim spicy remembrances. Baltasar Gracián El Héroe has a very good acidity, ripe tannins and long, toasted finish.

Yes, Aragon seems to be like the Ali Baba cave for Grenache. This sells for a song and is as good as many wines three times the price.
