Product Description
Details

The entry-level Spanish red wine of Vinyes Domènech is made from local and international varieties.

More specifically, Bancal del Bosc is a blend of Grenache, Samsó and Syrah, coming from 3 different plots composed of slate and clay soils within the DO Montsant.

Fermented for 15 days at a temperature of 28ºC, Bancal del Bosc 2018 was then aged for 5 months in French and American oak barrels.

This savoury red wine from Montsant is excellent with BBQ's.

Appearance

The red wine Bancal del Bosc has a clean, bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.

Nose

This gentle blend of Grenache, Samsó and Syrah exhibits notes of wild red berries, some balsamic hints and some delicately oaky notes over a background of Mediterranean undergrowth and aromatic herbs.

Palate

Savoury and meaty, this red wine of Celler Vinyes Domènech shows plenty of ripe red fruit, with tips of vanilla, balsam and liquorice. Tannins are sweet and ripe. Long finish with remembrances of resin wood and dry undergrowth.

Our personal opinion

A great introduction to the Montsant area, Bancal del Bosc 2018 is fresh and approachable. A neither banal nor excessively complex organic red wine.

Value
This wine which has been consistently upgraded and fine-tuned over the last years. I remembered it as somewhat sketchy, but the last vintages I have enjoyed very much. Ever more defined and precise.
