Product Description

The interesting Bàrbara Forés El Quintà is a single varietal White Grenache coming from DO Terra Alta, a Catalan region which, incidentally, is home to one third of all the White Grenache vineyards in the world.

Produced by Celler Bàrbara Forés, this Spanish white wine is crafted from two plots of over 60-year-old vines which totalize less than 2 hectares. They are planted in sandy soils with an abundance of silica fossils, at an altitude above 350 metres.

Harvested by hand, first the grapes were cold-macerated for 24 hours. Then they were fermented, and this White Grenache from Terra Alta was subsequently aged for 6 months on its lees in 500-litre French oak barrels from Allier.

Production of Bàrbara Forés El Quintà 2018 is quite limited.

Decant this organic white wine some time before drinking.

"Quintà" in Catalan, by the way, designates a parcel farmed by one single owner.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The wine Bàrbara Forés El Quintà has a pale yellow colour with some steely tinges.

Exuberant and multi-layered, this White Grenache begins with some nuances of white fruit and bone fruit, hints of spices, jasmine, orange blossom and citrus. On the background, El Quintà by Bàrbara Forés suggests a note of Mediterranean underbrush and aromatic herbs and deep earthy and mineral remembrances.

Smooth, savoury and unctuous, this organic white wine sure has great potential for improvement, thanks to its excellent acidity and solid bone structure. Rather complex, this wine from Terra Alta is reminiscent of citrus, white flowers and underbrush, with some hints of pastry and dry fruit, with an earthy and mineral echo. The elements, however, are only beginning to come together, so a little patience will sure have a high reward. Long, delicious finish.

Our personal opinion

A true terroir-orientated wine, and also a luxurious one, Bàrbara Forés El Quintà 2018 pairs marvelously with hearty fish dishes, such as a Wild Turbot with Almond Sauce. It is also a great companion for aged cheeses.

Terra alta white wine
Substantial white wine, one that I would drink after light or medium-bodied reds, following the old Burgundy tradition. Great personality.

a serious white
The Spanish White Grenache producers are really improving their craft. I think that El Quinta is an utterly characteristic, absolutely delightful wine. It has focus, precision, a lovely texture and a big potential for improvement.
