The new vintage of Bàrbara Forés El Templari comes with a new image and a new composition. This Spanish red wine from Terra Alta, Catalonia's southernmost Designation of Origin, is now a single varietal Morenillo.
Perfectly adapted to the harsh climatic conditions of Terra Alta, the Morenillo variety produces aromatic wines with a supple body, light colour, moderate alcohol content and a very good acidity. Organically farmed, the grapes used to produce this wine of Celler Bàrbara Forés come from a single estate with clayey soils, called Umbría de Tomaset.
The grapes were picked by hand on September 26 2018. Once in the facilities, this red wine from Terra Alta was macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts.
After that, Bàrbara Forés El Templari 2018 was aged for 9 months in clay vessels. Bottled in August 2019, it was aged for some months before being released onto the market.
Production of this "Vi Vermell" totalized only 3,258 bottles.
The red wine Bàrbara Forés El Templari has a dark cherry colour with a garnet rim.
Very fresh and honest on the nose, this varietal Morenillo from Terra Alta has a rich bouquet of red fruit, citrus and balsam. This Crianza red wine of the Bàrbara Forés winery has an earthy background, nuanced by hints of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean garrigue.
Slightly warm at the beginning, this Vi Vermell soon shows a crisp acidity and some fresh balsamic notes. This red wine from Terra Alta is deep, juicy, and slightly tannic, with plenty of red fruit, a clayey remembrance, and a pleasant rusticity. Long finish.
