An excellent value from the southern Catalan region of Terra Alta, defined by Decanter Magazine as "a great source of high-quality values", Bàrbara Forés Negre is a Spanish red wine made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan.
Coming from vineyards located near Gandesa, the capital city, the grapes were meticulously selected, macerated for 25 days, and fermented for 18 days in stainless steel tanks.
After that, Bàrbara Forés Negre 2018 was aged for 12 months in 300-litre French oak barrels from Allier.
This organic red wine of the Bàrbara Forés winery is a real treat.
The wine Bàrbara Forés Negre has a cherry colour with some ruby glints and a violet rim.
Juicy, fruit-driven, and expressive, the blend of Grenache, Carignan & Syrah suggests aromas of ripe strawberries, blackcurrants and cassis, alongside notes of aromatic herbs, toast and spices. There is a dim mineral background with a smokey touch.
This wine of the Bàrbara Forés winery is intense and well-crafted, with a high acidity and some crunchy tannins. There are some remembrances of wild berries, herbs de Provence, spices and undergrowth. Medium, balsamic finish.
