One of the most prestigious Spanish white wines from the DO Rueda, Belondrade y Lurtón is a paragon of quality and finesse.
Virtually a varietal Verdejo, this Rueda white wine from Bodega Belondrade is complemented with a 5% of other white varieties. Organically farmed, the grapes were sourced from Quinta San Diego, a estate divided into 23 different plots. The diversity of soil compositions and solar orientations really adds to the complexity of this wine.
Each plot of grapes was picked by hand, meticulously selected and separately vinified in 300-litre French oak barrels. After a brief maceration, the grapes were fermented with native yeasts and subsequently aged for 9 months in the barrels. Once the process was completed, Belondrade y Lurtón 2018 was blended and aged for a minimum of 5 months in the bottle before being released onto the market.
It is advisable to aerate this white wine aged on lees at least 30 minutes before drinking.
Bright and clean, the white wine Belondrade y Lurton is straw yellow with some golden tinges.
This varietal Verdejo is nuanced and complex. White fruit, with hints of clove and cinnamon, a touch of fennel and bitter herbs, some earthy remembrances and a brushstroke of flowers.
Savoury and smooth, this wine of bodega Belondrade is nuanced, intricate and complex. Mildly dense, with a zesty acidity and a very long, slightly bitter finish.
