Produced by the Borsao winery, Borsao Berola bears the label of the Campo de Borja DO. The name "Berola", by the way, is an hommage to the Cister Monks who founded the Monastery of Veruela, the craddle of the Campo de Borja Designation of Origin.
The Grenache vines are 35 to 60 years old, while the younger Syrah vines are only 10 years old.
Vinified separately, before alcoholic fermentation each variety was cold-soaked in stainless steel tanks to extract colour and aromas. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature, and then Borsao Berola 2015 was aged for 14 months in American and French oak barrels.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking. Drink now until 2022.

The wine Borsao Berola has a high ruby-coloured robe with a violet rim.
Elegantly complex, this red wine from Campo de Borja has a nose which combines aromas of ripe black fruit, notes of liquorice, cocoa, undergrowth and also some balsamic and toasty hints.
Intense and delicately warm, this wine by Bodegas Borsao has a smooth passage through the palate. Notes of black currants, menthol, dry earth and spices. A gentle and smooth red wine from Aragón, with silky tannins and a well-balanced acidity. Fruity and toasty aftertaste.

From Campo de Borja, Borsao Berola 2015 shows a good equilibrium between oak, fruit and alcohol. An excellent value indeed.
